McCormicks adds Criminal Law expertise
Harrogate-based McCormicks Solicitors has added to its busy Crime and Fraud team with the appointment of an experienced criminal lawyer.
Helen Howard joins the team headed by partner Geoff Rogers from a law firm in the north east and brings in-depth expertise in general and corporate crime work.
Geoff Rogers said: “Our case load is increasing daily, due in part to an increase in fraud cases during the economic downturn, and Helen’s experience in dealing with a wide range of criminal matters, from murder to fraud, will prove an asset to the department.”
Helen, aged 29, grew up in Leeds and graduated with a degree in Law from the University of Birmingham. After a gap year teaching English at Fuzhou University in China, she completed her legal qualifications at the College of Law in York.
She trained with a London firm before being seconded to the Birmingham office of a national trade union firm where she dealt solely with union clients.
She has handled a wide range of cases, particularly those involving youths and vulnerable adults.
Helen has a good working knowledge of Polish and is a member of the Duty Solicitor Scheme. She said: “I am delighted to be joining McCormicks. I have wanted to work with the firm since I was 15 when I did a work placement nearby and became aware of their reputation.”
