Position: PartnerBarry graduated from Cambridge, Gonville & Caius College, with First Class Honours in 1978.
He did Articles in the City of London firm Macfarlanes - a “magic circle” firm.
Admitted as Solicitor 1981, he became a Partner in a national law firm in 1987.
After practising Commercial Litigation and Employment Law for many years, he focused on the latter from about 2000 and now wholly specialises in Employment Law.
He joined hlw in 2002 as a Partner and now leads the Employment team.
Areas of specialism include TUPE, Employment Tribunal advocacy and Executive Severances.
Barry has been recognised in the Legal 500, Chambers and “Legal Experts”.
He frequently speaks at seminars including “Business Link” events across Yorkshire and Humberside.
In 1990 acted for the successful Claimant in the well known European Court of Justice case on pensions equality, Barber v Guardian Royal Exchange.
He is also an accredited mediator.
Barry is married with a son who recently qualified as a Teacher.
