Position: PartnerRichard is a partner and Head of the Insolvency and Debt Recovery departments. He is also the Managing Partner of the Leeds office.
Richard has specialised in insolvency since he qualified as a solicitor and joined us in 2000 as a Partner. He has also – whilst not wanting to be the harbinger of doom - busily been predicting a recession since the last one, to pretty much anyone who’d listen.
Richard initially specialised in Bankruptcy and personal insolvency but for many years has focussed on corporate insolvency and especially lender services.
He has specific expertise in Administrations and Voluntary Arrangements and LPA Receiverships and specific sector experience such as Development and Buy to Lets and the Licensed Trade and Agriculture.
He also regularly advises Insolvency Practitioners, Lenders and Venture Capitalists on managing their positions. As well as this he often advises directors who need sensitive and applied advice in personally stressful times - whether they are overseeing large or small enterprises.
Richard was born in Batley and went Batley Grammar School and then Leeds University where he obtained a 2:1 LLB law degree.
He qualified as a Solicitor in 1991 and went on to become a licensed insolvency practitioner in 1995. He is a Fellow of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals (R3.)
