Position: Solicitor and Deputy Legal Director
Liz trained and qualified as a solicitor with trade union firm, Raleys, working for clients funded by the Legal Services Commission and private clients. During Liz’s time at Raleys she undertook considerable work for the National Union of Mineworkers, including a number of group actions and the provision of lectures to Union members.
Before joining Howells as Deputy Legal Director in May 2008, Liz was a Partner at Mills Kemp & Brown providing employment advice and assistance to employers and employees. Involved in the House of Lords case Lawson v Serco where the Lords provided d a definitive position of territorial jurisdiction for those claiming unfair dismissal being provided. This success also led to the employment team gaining the runner up place in the national Lawyer Awards for 2007.
