Position: DirectorNigel has been a Partner at Lupton Fawcett since 2002, then director and member at Lupton Fawcett LLP. He graduated with honours at the University of Birmingham before qualifying as a solicitor in 1991.
Born and raised in Halifax, Nigel spent his formative working years in Birmingham at a well-known national law firm, before returning home to West Yorkshire 16 years ago. He leads the firm's commercial contracts disputes team, acting primarily for PLCs and SMEs in resolving disputes with suppliers, customers, agents, franchisors and franchisees. Nigel's team also deals with the resolution of partnership and corporate governance issues, and shareholder dispute resolution matters, particularly in relation to contentious post-M&A earn-out and warranty claims, guarantees and indemnities (eg Anthony Pitts and Others v Jones [2007] EWCA Civ. 1301).
Nigel has established a national reputation for his handling of disputes surrounding the supply of (primarily high value, household name and prestige marque) goods, and in relation to the finance agreements behind them.
Nigel's team also deals with professional negligence claims, particularly in relation to surveyors' negligence, Nigel having for a number of years been principal legal counsel to a nationwide firm of surveyors, but also accountants, solicitors, engineers, architects etc.
