She studied at Leeds Metropolitan University and qualified as a lawyer in 1995. Tanya also received her NEBOSH National Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety.
Tanya manages a niche team within the practice with a common theme of advocacy, regulatory and criminal law skills. In the last ten years the scope of legislation and offences covered has constantly evolved. She specialises in both prosecution and defence cases, giving an insight into both sides of an argument. Her areas of expertise include:
- health and safety
- environmental
- trading standards
- product liability
- corporate manslaughter
- all aspects of white collar fraud.
As an extension of her health and safety work, Tanya has developed a particular interest in the Coroner’s court, having acted on behalf of both companies and private individuals in respect of inquests at the Coroner’s court, in relation to both road traffic and workplace fatal accidents.
Tanya is adept at co-ordinating and managing large and complex cases involving multiple witnesses and specialist expert evidence. She particularly enjoys dealing with large scale enquiries, including the gathering of witness evidence, review of evidence and advice on action to be taken. Once the issues are identified, Tanya is an experienced negotiator and can often identify novel ways to resolve the case in a practical and commercial manner.
