Daniel is recommended for claimant personal injury litigation by Chambers & Partners which described him as an "utterly first class lawyer" and an "effective, high-powered operator". Chambers also highlighted his "innovative" approach and "his exceptional analysis of difficult legal points and his excellent negotiating skills". Daniel is currently rated by Chambers as being one of the two leading claimant personal injury litigators in Yorkshire.
Daniel is also recommended by the Legal 500 which describes him as having "a quick mind and thorough understanding of the law" as well as being "resolute, committed and extremely able".
Career
Daniel trained with a firm in his home city of Manchester before moving to London and joining Stewarts Law in 2000. Since then Daniel has only acted for clients with catastrophic injuries, mainly spinal cord and brain injuries. He has been involved in numerous cases which have resulted in awards in excess of £1 million.
In 2008, Daniel successfully appealed the landmark case of Eyres v Atkinsons Kitchens & Bedrooms Ltd [2007] EWCA Civ 365 and went on to secure a settlement for Mr Eyres which, gross of contributory negligence, exceeded £5.5 million. This is the highest reported settlement or award for a paraplegic.
In 2010, he secured a settlement valued at in excess of £11 million for his client Wasim Mohammed. At the time, this was the highest reported personal injury settlement or award and remains the highest reported award for a tetraplegic.
